Shaima Aly-Andrassy is a Libyan-Slovak citizen. She has over 12 years experience as a gender and partnership adviser for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and United Nations (UN) agencies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) regions.
She holds a bachelors in Female Education and Social Sciences and a masters in Education Philosophy from Ain Shams University.
Shaima belongs to several professional bodies including:
- the Gender and Water Alliance
- the Association for Women Rights in Development (AWID)
- Canadian Aid
- Euromed Platform programme for Youth Exchange
- Women Organising for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resources Management
- and the Global Alliance on Gender and Media.
She is also a 2015 Fellow of Women Leadership in Public Service at the Mills College, California.
Shaima has worked for 11 years with NGOs and international donors in local development at different levels, including design, monitoring and evaluation. This experience covers a wide range of sectors such as media, gender inclusion, children protection and youth empowerment.
Shaima has also participated in many peacebuilding media and tolerance related programme, organised by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) targeting CEE and MENA regions.
