Omowunmi Afolabi

Omowunmi Afolabi is a passionate social change agent who believes that the greatest asset in the world is portable – knowledge.

She is a certified civil engineer with over 11 years experience as a consultant to the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Over this time she has also worked with rural communities focusing on education and health.

Omowunmi is the Founder of Transforming Education and Championing Health (TEACH). TEACH is an innovative project based in communities, that integrates school health and school meals with public pre-primary and primary education. TEACH specifically addresses certain targets of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4.

Omowunmu also serves as the project manager of The Irede Foundation, a Nigeria-based NGO that focuses on providing support o indigent children living without limbs.

She is committed to continuous learning. She is among more than 117,000 people from 251 countries who have completed courses in the United States Agency for International Development's Global Health E-Learning Center.

Omowunmi has managed a multi-disciplinary team involved in implementing millenium development goals (MDG) projects on water, sanitation and hygiene. This experience helped her develop strong co-ordination and problem solving skills.

She also has well-developed communication skills, leadership and excellent managerial skills. She is a mentor on the Tony Elemelu Entrepreneur programme and enjoys mentoring and volunteering.

She currently volunteers as a teacher in a public school and runs a startup management consulting business.
