Mike Press is an Emeritus Professor of Design Policy and the Director of Open Change - a Scotland-based service design and innovation company. Prior to this, he worked at the University of Dundee and was Head of Gray’s School of Art, The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
Mike has written and researched widely on design, innovation, contemporary craft and the management of design, speaking at conferences worldwide. He has published several articles and books The Design Agenda: A guide to successful design management and The Design Experience. He is also a contributor to television and radio programmes on design.
Mike was a member of the selection panel for the Design Council's Millennium Products and has been shortlisted for the Sir Misha Black Medal for Innovation in Design Education. He is a former Chair of the European Academy of Design and a member of the editorial board of The Design Journal.
Mike has been a research advisor to a number of UK universities and has undertaken consultancy for Universities in Europe and North America. He is an experienced PhD examiner and has examined over 25 in the UK and Europe in fields such as contemporary craft, service design and design management.
