Dr Ishrat Bano gained her masters and master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Pakistan. She worked towards a PhD while co-located at Quaid-i-Azam University and the University of Cambridge, supported by the International UNESCO L’Oreal Fellowship scheme.
Ishrat joined Harvard University as a postdoctoral fellow. She also holds diplomas in Executive Coaching and in Entrepreneurial Skills Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.
She has worked closely with policymakers, healthcare professionals, educationalists and entrepreneurs, including the Stevie Award for Women in Business, New York, USA.
In 2013, Ishrat received an Asian Women of Achievement Award. Other international awards and fellowships that she has won include:
- the international UNESCO L’Oreal Fellowship Certificate of Excellence Pasteur Institute, Paris
- the Einstein Young Scholar Award, Germany
- the Robert Bosch Stiftung Fellowship, Germany
- and the World Bank Fellowship, USA.
She was a key speaker in United Nations Science, technology and Innovation Forum in 2016 and participated in the 60th Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau, Germany.
Ishrat has over eight years experience of coaching and mentoring with various organisations including the Association of Women in Science (AWIS), Harvard University and the United Nations.
She is also a founder of a non-profit organisation to financially help young students in education.
