Raquel Jacobs is a development expert with over five years experience working directly with public primary schools in marginalised communities in Nigeria, focusing on education and empowerment for girls.
At university in 2011, Raquel founded Beyond the Classroom Foundation – an non-governmental organisation (NGO) focused on improving education for less privileged pupils in public primary schools.
Since then, she has been working directly with children and youths in marginalised communities in Lagos, especially in education and empowerment for girls.
Over the last five years, she has volunteered for several projects and served on the board of two non-profit organisations.
She is an Alumni Fellow of both the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative of the US Consulate Lagos (CYFI) and the Social Innovation Program of LEAP Africa.
In 2015, Raquel was selected as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and a World Economic Forum Global Shaper with the Lagos Hub.
She currently doubles as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade and Investment (Office of the Vice President) and leads the Admin Department of the Enabling Business Environment Secretariat (EBES).
