Nusula Kizito Nassuna

Nusula Kizito Nassuna is a Ugandan and UK qualified lawyer currently working as Legal Counsel with the Africa Legal Support Facility of the African Development Bank.

In her current role, she advises African countries especially fragile states in negotiating complex commercial and business transactions, including:

  • large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, extractive resources concessions and debt operations
  • defending lawsuits from distressed debt investors and vulture funds
  • capacity building including contract negotiation, management and restructuring of sovereign debt, and public-private partnerships (PPPs).

Nusula has previously worked as a:

  • Senior Legal Officer with the Capital Markets Authority, Uganda
  • a Commonwealth Professional Fellow with White & Case LLP, UK – Capital Markets Group
  • Visiting Associate with Hogan Lovells International LLP UK in the International Debt Capital Markets & Private Equity departments
  • and Inspectorate Officer with the Inspectorate of Government of Uganda.

Nusula is experienced in capital markets, sovereign bonds, private equity, law and finance in emerging markets, public private partnerships, project finance and corporate law. She holds:

  • a Master of Laws Degree from the University Of Manchester, UK
  • a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University, Uganda
  • and a Post-graduate Diploma from the Law Development Centre.

Nusula is a qualified chartered secretary with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK. She has published numerous articles on sovereign bonds, corporate governance and capital markets.
