Mary-Jean Nleya is the Founder and Editor of The Global Communique, a current affairs digital magazine and an Associate Fellow for the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Previously, she was the Senior Editor for Op-Eds at the Harvard Africa Policy Journal and was an intern – and later a contractor – at the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
Mary-Jean holds a masters in Law (LLM) from the Harvard Law School and a bachelors cum laude in Law from the University of Pretoria.
In 2016, Mary-Jean was awarded the Excellence in Media Award by the African Media Initiative for the AU Agenda 2063 reporting category.
She has a keen interest in analysing media narratives and is fascinated by the intersection between law, media, international development and public policy.
