Derek Lubner has a deep knowledge of the challenges and opportunities faced by small businesses. He has over 30 years of business experience, ranging from working in large organisations and in startups, both as investor and manager.
Derek has been involved in managing and streamlining for profit and not-for-profit organisations. This experience gives him a broad range of skills and knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.
Derek sits on the board of Mothers 2 Mothers, an HIV/AIDS non-governmental organisation (NGO) that has significantly changed the landscape of prevention of mother to child transmission of the twin diseases. The organisation operates in six African countries and to date, it has touched the lives of over one million mothers.
He is also the UK Chair for Field Band Foundation – a South African NGO, which teaches, trains and organises field bands in 46 towns and cities across the country.
Derek distributes significant funds to a wide range of NGOs, charities and individuals in the areas of HIV/AIDS, medical, sport, music, and community through his family foundation Make an Immediate Difference (MAID) Foundation, London, where he is Director.
