Samantha is a Co-founder, Youth Leader and Entrepreneur at Trifinity Solutions, where she is responsible for software systems development, marketing programmes, brand management, and developing digital solutions for businesses.
A 2017 Queen's Young Leader, Samantha helps disadvantaged communities and is working to reduce suicide rates in Guyana, which has the highest unemployment and rates of suicide in the world.
She is the President of Enterprise Youth Development Group (EYDG), which runs several initiatives including:
- providing clothes and food to low income families
- organising Christmas parties for children living in orphanages
- and offering community computer classes.
Under Samantha’s leadership, EYDG also ran a suicide prevention project with the Caribbean Voice, offering support to people at risk.
As a student of Computer Science at the University of Guyana, Samantha wrote a paper called 'Identifying depression from social media content via psychological and linguistic analysis'. She also created an algorithm which processes natural language to detect ‘depressive statements’ in social media posts. She hopes this system will be applied to help to prevent people in Guyana from taking their own lives.
As a suicide survivor, Samantha is passionate about making a difference in her community and helping young people realise their potential. Her ambition is to create youth programmes in mental health and entrepreneurship.
She has set herself a mission is to create impact for one billion people around the planet by inspiring and empowering entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and mental wellness.
