Joannes Paulus Yimbesalu

Joannes Paulus Yimbesalu

Queen’s Young Leader, Joannes Paulus Yimbesalu is a Research Scientist and Co-founder of Hope for Children Cameroon. His organisation seeks to provide educational assistance to children in poor communities. 

Joannes has worked as a consultant for the United Nations, including on a project funded by the World Health Organisation – Health in Niger. Through the HeForShe UN Women initiative, he engages young men and boys to advocate for gender equality.

Joannes advocacy work in ensuring universal access to education has earned him numerous awards and recognition including:

  • the 2014 Youth Courage Award from the Office of the UN Envoy on Global Education
  • the 2015 African Youth Excellence Award for Public Service
  • the 2015 Queen’s Young Leaders Award.

He has also been selected as a Youth Advisory Group for the Canadian Commission for UNESCO and a Global Youth Ambassador for A World At School.

Joannes is part of the Global Citizenship Working Group of the Brooking Institute and was selected as one of the 75 young people to attend the 2017 Yenching Global Symposium – one of China’s Academy’s flagship events on Xinnovation: Identity of Innovation in China.
