Gunjan Mhapankar is a Queen’s Young Leader from Vancouver, Canada, who is studying medicine at Western University, Ontario.
When she was 15, Gunjan and her family moved to Vancouver from Mumbai, India. She was struck by the lack of social support for immigrant groups in the city. So as a student, Gunjan set up the Digital Storytelling Project to support the not-for-profit sector in the Greater Vancouver Region.
For this Gunjan won a Queen’s Young Leaders Award in 2016, which is also the year she moved across the country to Ontario to study medicine.
She has since become an activist with Global Minds, participating in cross-cultural collaboration to find solutions to mental health problems.
