Aarti Naik is the Founder and Director of Sakhi for Girls Education, a social venture that creates quality learning spaces and provides life-skills opportunities for slum-based girls in the Mulund area of Mumbai, India.
Through the Sakhi for Girls Education, Aarti is running the English Books Library, Girls Learning Center, Girls Book Bank, Girls Sport School and Sakhi Girls Bank. Today, more than 400 girls are benefitting from the various educational capacity building activities provided by her organisation.
Aarti is a founding member of Levi's Shape What's to Come Community, India, and is associated with the US-based organisation, Girltank. For three years, she worked as an Action Partner in the Oxfam International Youth Partnership (OIYP) programme.
Aarti has received numerous awards and recognition for her contribution to girls’ education both at home and abroad. She is an Ashoka Changemaker and a World Economic Forum Global Shaper. In 2016, she became a Queen’s Young Leader.
