Denyce Blackman: #LCJB17 winner, Americas

Denyce began her career as editor of @titude Magazine, the youth arm of The Nation Newspaper. Over the time spent generating relevant content for the 32-page magazine, she developed a passion for Caribbean youth development.

She found her love for visual story-telling at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, where she produces topical material for regional radio and television broadcast.

From January 2013 to December 2015, Denyce studied journalism at the Federal University of Amazonas. While in Brazil, she conceptualised and filmed “Fumni” – a documentary highlighting Brazilian attitudes to the rising immigrant population.

After completing a Light Lab Video course in 2016, Denyce began creating music videos for local artistes.

She is currently working on an upcoming docu-series “Life As I Am”, highlighting the challenges of minority groups. In September 2017, Denyce will begin a Masters degree in Television and Film Studies at the University of Birmingham in the UK.
