Jo Taylor is a freelance writer working towards a doctorate in Education Psychology at University College London's (UCL) Institute of Education. He also tutors on Leading Change course.
He grew up in Hackney – one of London’s poorest boroughs – and was a carer for his mother during his education. He experienced a lot of barriers to attainment and his work is based around addressing educational inequality. Jo learnt to teach through Teach First (2010) and now helps them assess applicants who want to become teachers. After teaching, he co-founded Tinderbox (2013) and Wall Display (2014).
A 2015 Queen's Young Leader, and highly commended in the 2016 Leading Change Journalism Bursary, Jo has contributed several articles to this website including:
- Naveed and Sam Parvez: Andiamo
- Jo Taylor: Using psychology in everyday changemaking
- Jo Taylor: Using evidence to make impact
His story as a Queen's Young Leader – in which he describes his thinking behind the Changemaker Checklist that he developed through the programme – has also been covered on Leading Change.
