Eugenie founded Spark+Mettle in May 2011 for a number of different reasons.
She wanted to support young people, and think about the non-cognitive, the non-academic stuff they needed to succeed in life. Her experience of teaching made her feel that information was missing from traditional education.
And she wanted to use technologies, like Skype and Google Hangouts, to enable conversations between young people and adults who were interested in trying to support them.
Spark+Mettle aims to build the character strengths, soft skills and the networks young people need to succeed in work and life, through coaching, technology and events. They also run a part-time programme called Star Track, which helps young people build strengths, skills and networks.
